Board President Yaser Tabbara Speaks at IMPAC Launch
Board President Yaser Tabbara was the keynote speaker at the Illinois Minority Political Action Coalition (IMPAC) launch on Friday, March 25th at the Northwest Suburban College in Rolling Meadows, IL.
Illinois Minority Political Action Coalition is a grass root political organization based in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, Its mission is the political empowerment of minorities residing in Chicago’s Northwest communities thru education, advocacy, organizing and collaboration. It strongly believes in the power of building enduring relationships thru personal diplomacy and open communication. It will endeavor to reach out beyond the boundaries of religious and ethnic confines, to seek common ground and solve problems which will provide for the common good. It will strive to promote the political participation of its members thru education, training and networking. It will support the political aspiration of those within the community who are committed to the principles of justice and equity.
The event was attended by statewide and local elected officials from across the northwest suburbs of Illinois as well as community leaders. Tabbara spoke on the importance of greater involvement in the political process beyond voter registration and get out the vote efforts. He highlighted the success of Project Mobilize in recruiting, training, and running seven candidates from across the Muslim American community of the southwest suburbs in the less than one year life of the organization. Furthermore, Tabbara insisted that these efforts are to benefit the community as a whole, therefore, Project M will be there to assist other efforts from local communities at increasing their political voice.
