The teachers of Burbank School District 111 are still waiting for a contract.

With elections fast approaching, one candidate says her focus remains on the students of the District and working for the teachers.

Lina Zayed has taught at Reavis High School for 11 years.

She has been a resident of Burbank for 33 years. A mother of five, all her children attended District 111 schools.

“Running for the board is a way for me to give back to the community and the students of District 111,” Zayed said.

“As a secondary education teacher in the area, I see successful students and I would like to implement the things that I see as being successful in high school in District 111,” she said.

Zayed, who is running with the support of the group Project Mobilize, sought guidance from the council of the group.
