My name is Maha Hasan and I am running for the position of the Library Board Trustee for the Village of Justice.

I am a Speech-Language Pathologist currently practicing in the school systems. I work with school-aged children with various types of disabilities.  I have had the opportunity to work hands on with members of our community as I also provide home-based therapy to children in neighboring towns, and have worked in hospitals and rehab facilities.  I believe that I have pursued a rewarding career in which I am able to change the lives of many, as I watch them grow and change for the better.

I am extremely dedicated to improvement and believe there is always room for growth and progress in our ever so changing world.  So it is for these reasons that I am driven to continue to make positive changes in our communities. I believe that knowledge is the essential factor to achieving these goals.  It is with knowledge and dedication that people before us have been able to make great contributions to our world and I hope to expand these principles to people in our community.  We can work together to provide residents of Justice opportunities to expand on their knowledge and experiences by supplying our library with appropriate resources, programs, and technological advancements in order to explore innovative ways to create positive change.   Although I have had the privilege of utilizing such services as a child growing up in this community, unfortunately I never got to experience this as a direct service from the village of Justice, but rather from neighboring towns surrounding our village.

I hope that we can make the necessary changes needed, to help Justice become a more thriving and prosperous village. I feel that my background as a Muslim Arab American growing up in the suburbs of Chicago has provided me with a multi-cultural and diverse experience.  I hope that we can continue to represent and meet the demands of our residents. By holding local government positions, we can continue to provide the Arab Muslim community with an opportunity for political representation and active participation in the public.  I hope that I can count on the people of Justice to pave the way for positive social change in our community by coming out to the ballots and showing support on the April 5th elections.
