Internships

The following internships are available for all college students as well as community members at least 18 years of age. Individuals interested in supporting the efforts of Project Mobilize that do not fit into these criteria are invited to apply as a volunteer.

Academic credit is available to students in accordance with the policies and requirements of their individual universities, colleges, or institutions.

Community Engagement

Job Duties, Responsibilities, and Expectations

  • Regularly communicate with Muslim American community members on their concerns, issues, and visions for political empowerment
  • Organize and conduct campaigns to advance the political empowerment of the Muslim American community
  • Assist in developing voter education materials to distribute to community members

Qualifications

  • Friendly, outgoing, self-motivated and able to communicate with offices of elected officials
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent critical thinking and visual skills
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Regular access to a car and ability to drive to community centers and/or locations with a high concentration of the Muslim American community

Policy Research

Job Duties, Responsibilities, and Expectations

  • Develop voter education materials to distribute to the Muslim American community
  • Research new civic education materials to be distributed to the community
  • Research new legislation, campaign timelines, and other information pertinent to full involvement in the political process
  • Developing detailed analysis of political and voting trends for internal use

Qualifications

  • Strong background in research
  • Excellent writing and verbal skills
  • Self-starter and ability to multitask
  • Coursework in American political systems, electoral politics, and/or the legislative process a plus

Marketing

Job Duties, Responsibilities, and Expectations

  • Creating promotional materials for various events and projects
  • Publicizing Project Mobilize programs and events through various media (website, list serves, social networking, etc.)
  • Coordinating the distribution of newsletters as well as pamphlets and other marketing materials

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient with Windows XP, Microsoft Word, and preferably Photoshop and Adobe InDesign
  • Strong organizational and visual skills

Public Relations & Education

Job Duties, Responsibilities, and Expectations

  • Creating content for newsletters, pamphlets, and other marketing materials
  • Coordinating the distribution of newsletters, pamphlets and other marketing materials
  • Developing training content and materials for political empowerment programs
  • Drafting analysis on relevant current affairs

Qualifications

  • Possess excellent oral and written communications skills as well as the ability to do extensive research
  • Able to work independently and under strict time constraints
  • Organized, multi-tasked and demonstrate the ability to follow through the various on-going and newly assigned tasks
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with Windows XP, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access

Web Design

Job Duties, Responsibilities, and Expectations

  • Managing and updating web content
  • Creating new websites for various organizational projects
  • Adding new web pages to existing site(s)

Qualifications

  • Excellent web design skills (HTML, CSS, etc.)
  • Content-management knowledge preferred

Database Design

Job Duties, Responsibilities, and Expectations

  • Creating new databases and archives of relevant information to supplement organizational activities and knowledge base
  • Expanding, compiling, and organizing existing databases
  • Designing a systematic database structure to meet organizational needs

Qualifications

  • Proficient with Excel, Windows XP, Microsoft Word, Access, Outlook Organized and able to manage large amounts of data
